I adopted a purebred chocolate lab male puppy a few days ago. Right now at 8 weeks old, he's only four pounds. Looking at pictures of the litter, he's much smaller than his brothers and sisters which leads me to believe he's the runt. He's a healthy and playful puppy, just much smaller than his litter mates. His dad is a whopping 124lbs though! He is huge. His mom is 65 pounds, so she's about. She was the runt of the litter, smaller than the others but not by too much. When I got her last week she weighed about 6 1/2 lbs, she was healthy just little. I weighed her this week and she was 10lbs. I read that a lab puppy should weigh about 2lbs for every week, and shes now 9 weeks and 10lbs, very shy of 18lbs.
